Not quite face-blind

I can recognize people fairly reliably, and picture them in my mind fairly clearly, *if* I have seen them enough times. But if I have only seen a person once or twice, the face is a blur in my mind, and I can't recognize the person with any certainty; I just have to guess based on extremely obvious things like hair color, beard, glasses, etc. If these things change, or if the person has no obvious features, I am out of luck.
I also have very little ability to judge body size. If you ask me how tall someone is, I will have no clue, whether I am picturing the person in my head or actually looking at him. (I am not good at estimating distances in general, actually.) Weight is not much easier for me... I sometimes remember people as being fat and then realize the next time I see them that they are much thinner than I thought (or vice versa).
When I read a book, my mind makes only very vague pictures of the characters, which is why the characters always look wrong to me when I watch a movie based on a book that I have read.
